Who We Are
We are the Loma Prieta Chapter members who care about forests.
We get together to educate ourselves, other chapter members, the public,
and local politicians about healthy forest practices.
To preserve, protect, and restore the ecological integrity and native biodiversity
of the forests of California, with efforts extending to include the forests of the United States
and other regions of the world as appropriate, through education, advocacy, and political action.
Long Term Goals
1). Actively support Forest Ethics in their market-based Save the
Sierra campaign to stop clearcutting in the Sierra Nevada.
2). Increase awareness and demand for lumber certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
3). Promote sustainable logging methods - prohibit clearcutting and stop logging along local streams.
4). Promote the importance of forests top provide ecosystem services such as watershed purification,
wildlife habitat, and carbon sequestration, as well as the draw for outdoor recreation.
