Singleaires are friendly, active, single older people who enjoy outdoor activities and conservation.
Hikes are offered each Sunday (Easy to Strenuous) followed by a potluck.

1A+ A leisurely pace hike (5
miles) to the top of Black Mountain (elev2800'), a gain of 800 ft. The
views
from Black Mountain are superb. Bring boots, water and lunch.

2B 6 + miles Moderate pace. Hike the
trails close to the area of the fatal 1953 crash of the DC-6 Resolution and as
extra, we will stop by a Tafoni rock formation. Short lunch break, heavy rain

Sat Dec 13 BUTANO TRAIL WORK Treat yourself to a day in the redwoods. Learn new
skills. Make new
friends. Work at your own pace. Wear long sleeves, long pants, boots,

Directions: From Hwy 280 take Hwy 84 through Woodside. R on Kings Mtn.
Rd., about 2 mi. to park entrance.
Follow signs to Miwok Shelter. CARPOOLS ARE STRONGLY ADVISED! Parking
at Miwok shelter for only
25 cars. When lot is full, remainder will have to park in main lot by
Ranger Station and walk approx. ˝ mi. If you
have room in your car, pick up those waiting in main lot. Carpools: Los

gain. Great rock formations, largest Black Oak in Santa Cruz Mtns.
Great views,
moderate hike along Saratoga Gap Trail. Some sections rocky and rough, some
narrow/sheer cliffs. Boots advisable. Lunch stop near Trail Camp. Leader:

Christmas Day Stevens Creek Trail
(Mini hike) 2:00 PM 4 miles
round trip. Very easy hike. Comfortable pace along level paved
trail toward

1A This will be a shorter and slower
hike with climbs and drops through beautiful mixed forest. We will have
lunch
in the group camp area and return by the same trail. Boots, lunch, water.

28 Portola to Pescadero 10:15 AM 2B Almost 9 miles 1400 elevation
gain. We will do two loops, along Summit and Slate Creek trails, then up

leisurely 3.5 mile walk near the Alameda Creek to "Little Yosemite"

Wunderlich County Park 10 AM
2B+ Come on a strenuous 10.5 mile hike
with gradual 1900 foot elevation gain through mostly wooded areas. We
will
maintain a fairly brisk pace with short rest stops and lunch at the top. Wear
layered clothing and boots. Bring lunch and plenty of water.

Jan 11 BUTANO STATE PARK, 1A, 11:00
AM, Want to smell clean ocean air in
the warm redwoods?
You can see the sun beams exploding colors hard to imagine as we climb
up and down along the beautiful Butano
Creek. Bring sturdy footwear, Parking fee, lunch to eat at the
campground, water and a smile.
Directions: Take
Hwy 92 to Half Moon Bay then L on Hwy 1 about 14 mi to Pescadero turnoff on the
left, or take Hwy 84
(Woodside) and L on Hwy 1 and L at Pescadero turnoff. Go past Pescadero
about ˝ mi and turn R on to
Cloverdale. Continue for about 4 mi to the entrance road on the left.
Park by the entrance or picnic area. Parking
is limited so carpool.

Jan 11 Lower Fall Creek Park 10:30 AM 2B The trails are forested with
second-growth redwood, bay, and fir trees. Hike for approx. 5.5 miles on
the
Fall Creek Trail and visit the Lime Kiln area. Bring boots and
water.

18 Santa Teresa County Park 10:00 AM 1 A+ Hike 7.5 miles over
rolling hills with overall elevation gain of 1050 feet. Lunch at Pueblo Picnic
Area. Trail is rocky, boots necessary, bring lunch and water. Heavy rain

2B This is a 6 mile hike through shady
forest with 1600 feet elevation gain. Trail is not maintained, is narrow,
steep in places, with brush, and has NO trail signs. You need boots,
long-sleeved

25 Palo Alto Baylands 2:00 PM (Mini-Hike) Approx. 3-4 miles. An
easy, level, leisurely paced hike thru the largest tract of undisturbed
marshland
remaining in the SF Bay. No shade, but often a cool breeze. Snowy egrets

Regional Wilderness 11:00 AM 1 A- We
will hike up to the old
Barn, a 600 foot gentle rise. Heavy rain cancels, muddy trail changes
it.

Cowell Redwoods State Park, Felton 10AM 2B Hike approximately
8+ miles with a quick pace through first growth redwoods and along the San
Lorenzo River. There is lots of history in this area. Heavy rain

Lakes Regional Park and Niles Garden Sculptures 10:45 AM 1A
4+miles. Visit the comfortable informal garden of artist, Ed-of-Niles,
and meet
his whimsical Garden Saints. Join a level walk around the lakes. Bring
lunch,

It’s cool at the top! Find out how Mountain
View got its name, and have lunch at our OSP campsite.
This 5 mile hike has a scenic 500 foot climb

Hwy 280 take Page Mill Rd W up the mountain 7
mi to Monte Bello Ridge parking lot on L. Carpools: Los Gatos 10:00;
Palo Alto/Woodside 10:15.

the weather and our inclinations. There's a great view of the Santa

Valley from Eagle Rock. We can follow the old electric railroad bed into

A 6+ miles. Enjoy the ocean from
the fishing pier, hike over Mori and Rockaway Points to Linda Mar Beach and

2B 6+ miles. The highest mountain in
San Mateo County. Some steep and rocky sections. We hike up from
San Pedro

22 National Wildlife Refuge to Coyote Hills 1:00 PM 1A From one
visitor center to another. . .and beyond! We'll meet at the parking lot
of the SF
National Wildlife Refuge visitor center-explore- then walk to Coyote Hills
park for a rest/snack stop . Then loop back to the refuge center.

Presidio Of San Francisco Historic Trail 10:00 AM 2B This is an 8
mile walk through one of Americas oldest land most beautiful Army Posts ( a

The following policies apply
unless otherwise noted on the individual activity.
If there are any questions,
please contact the leader.
ALL ACTIVITIES GO - RAIN OR SHINE
- unless noted in the description.
* Boots with lug soles & ankle supports are
normally required.
* Bring lunch/beverage - WATER IS ABSOLUTELY
NECESSARY - A QUART IN HOT WEATHER.
* Please check with leader before bringing
children.
Hike leaders are volunteers,
and they expect your cooperation for a safe and enjoyable hike. The leader is responsible for your safety,
and you are expected to cooperate with the leader's decisions. All hikes also have a "rear leader"
to keep the group together. If you leave
the hike, you need to inform either the leader or rear leader and sign out on
the Liability Waiver.
CARPOOLS
All Singleaire trips begin
and end at the trailhead. “In the interests of facilitating the logistics of
some outings, it is customary that participants make carpooling
arrangements. The Sierra Club does not
have insurance for carpooling arrangements and assumes no liability for
them. Carpooling, ride sharing or anything
similar is strictly a private arrangement among the participants. Participants assume the risks associated with
this travel...Outdoor Activities, Sierra Club.”

2. To cover
