Rating: 2B (9 mi, 1600 ft). Joseph Grant County Park is located at the base of Mt. Hamilton and is the largest Santa Clara county park. Hike features the old Grant ranch house, Grant Lake, extensive grasslands, majestic oak trees, and magnificent views of Mt. Hamilton to the east and Hall's Valley to the west. Heavy rain cancels. Bring layered clothing, a hat, sunscreen, lunch, liquids, boots, and hiking poles if you need them. Short sections of the trail are steep. Meet at the Park at 10 AM. Take Hwy 101 or Hwy 680 to Alum Rock Ave eastbound, turn right onto Mt. Hamilton Rd, and travel eight miles to the park entrance on the right. $6 vehicle entry fee. After entering the park, continue past the first parking area on the left, then turn left where the road splits and park near the restrooms. Carpool from Joseph Lick High School parking lot at the northwest corner of Alum Rock Ave. and White Road at 9:20AM. No-host carpool from Page Mill and 280 Park & Ride leaves at 9AM.
