The forest is showing off beautiful fall colors and it's great that we can hike and appreciate them and breath in the crisp air and enjoy the bright sun. This weekend will take in some great hikes in the central Sierra.

Saturday's hike will take us into the Emigrant Wilderness starting at the Gianielli's Cabin trailhead. We'll hike into the wilderness following the historic path which brought gold seekers to the Sonora mines over 100 years ago. Today, it is by far the most pleasant and scenic west-side avenue into the Emigrant Basin's heart. Our destination will be Powell Lake where we will have lunch. This hike will be about 10 miles round trip. After we can soak in the hot tub, have a happy hour followed by a great dinner.

On Sunday, we will approach the Emigrant Wilderness from Pinecrest Peak and hike down the vast expanse of beautiful granite toward Waterhouse Lake and the South Fork of the Stanislaus River. This exciting trip, already diverse geologically, passes through four different life zones. We won't make the entire trail and will keep the hike to 10 miles or less based upon participants desires.

This trip will be based out of my cabin called Lucille's Cabin in the Pinecrest area, south of Tahoe and just north of Yosemite. Trip cost is $90. per person and includes two breakfasts, two lunches, one dinner. Make checks out to Sierra Club and be sure to include your name, address, phone number and email address.
