Sierra Club Loma Prieta Day Hiking Section Schedule

  • All hikes by the Day Hiking Section are open to Sierra Club members, guests, and the general public. DHS activities begin and end at the trailhead. Carpool locations here.
  • All participants on Sierra Club Outings are required to sign a standard liability waiver. A copy of the waiver may be found at http://lomaprieta.sierraclub.org/dayhiking/SignInWaiver1101.pdf .
  • The hike schedule is available on the DHS web page at http://www.sierraclub.org/chapters/lomaprieta/dayhiking/ .
  • Hikers new to the group must call the hike leader in advance.

    The hike rating system is as follows:

    1 = Less than 5 miles of total distance
    2 = 5 to 10 miles
    3 = 10 to 15 miles
    4 = 15 to 20 miles
    5 = 20 to 25 miles

    A = Less than 1000 feet of total elevation gain
    B = 1000 to 2000 feet
    C = 2000 to 3000 feet
    D = 3000 to 4000 feet
    E = 4000 to 5000 feet

    Thus a typical Saturday 4D outing encompasses 15-20 miles of distance and 3000-4000' of elevation gain.

    Meet at Cottle Rd. and Hwy 85 Park & Ride at 7:45am.

    Dec 8 Sat Mt Tamalpais Holiday Hike 3C.
    Traditional Rocky Point. If raining, leader will determine different route. Carpool: Edgewood Rd. and Hwy 280 Park & Ride, 7:30am. Holiday potluck follows hike at Betty Sills' home. Please call Betty at 650/345-5880 for potluck suggestions and directions.

    Dec 15 Sat SF City Hike 3C.
    We'll hike some of the bawdy 'Barbary' coastline of ol' SF, enjoy twists-and-turns, ups and downs, and, walk on streets festooned with holiday flora and cheer. Lunch stop in Chinatown, or, BYO if you prefer. Carpool: Edgewood Rd and Hwy 280 Park&Ride, 7:45am, or, Fort Mason parking area, nr Greens Restaurant, 9:00am.

    Dec 22 Sat Hidden Villa to Black Mountain 4C/D.
    Hidden Villa is at 26870 Moody Road, Los Altos Hills. Parking fee $5. Met in first parking lot after the toll booth at 8:30am. Weather will determine route.

    Dec 29 Sat Windy Hill/Skyline parks 4C/D.
    Meet at Page Mill and Hwy 280 Park&Ride at 7:45am. If weather is inclement, we'll go to Wunderlich Park instead. Decision will be made when we meet at Park&Ride.
