First Aid
|

GLS Outing Leaders are required to have current
Standard First Aid Certification and to carry a First Aid
Kit on all outings they lead. There are many kinds of first
aid classes, from half-day Standard First Aid to Wilderness
Rescue. It's entirely up to you what class you take, as long
as it's National Safety Council approved. Some classes
certify you for two years, others for three. There are many
approved programs, including classes from the Red
Cross. If money's an obstacle to taking first aid, we'll
gladly help.
The Red Book tells you what Sierra Club recommends you
have in your First Aid Kit. Contact
the Outings Chair for a copy or for where you can look
it up on the Sierra Club website.
The Outings Chair may arrange a class specifically for
GLS Leaders once a year (probably late winter/early spring).
But don't count on it if your renewal date is coming up!
