After 25 years at the Sherman Clay Piano Company, Barbara Kelsey has changed direction and is our new Chapter Coordinator. Join us in welcoming her. When you call the Chapter office, Barbara is the one you will most likely speak to. You'll hear her energetic voice and be treated to her cheerful, altruistic nature. Barbara answers phone calls, responds to email inquiries, coordinates office volunteers, makes reservations, and communicates with political leaders.

Barbara's joy in music and love of the environment inspires her. At Sherman Clay she enjoyed bringing music into people's lives. At the Sierra Club she is enthusiastic about making the world a better place. Her spotlight is on global warming issues; she's a huge fan of polar bears. "The possible extinction of polar bears lights my fire," she says. She enjoys working with volunteers who stand up and say, "I'm going to make a difference." After only a few weeks on the job, Barbara says she is impressed with the Chapter volunteers' dedication.

In addition to working for the Chapter, Barbara is actively involved in Viva la Musica, a community choir. Not only does she sing with the choir, she's the volunteer administrative director. Barbara originally attended the weekly rehearsals with her mom in order to spend more time with her. They sang together for four years ... until her mother started another choir. Barbara enjoys being part of this outreach, singing classical, contemporary, Broadway, and world music with a full orchestra.

In addition to singing and caring for the planet, Barbara enjoys being an aunt to her three nephews and spending time with her husband and her shihtzu dog. Although our Chapter relies heavily on volunteers, staff members such as Barbara are invaluable in the support they offer to the public and those in the Chapter office.
