The wildlife in the Pajaro River Watershed can breathe a sigh of relief. DMB Associates, the master developer behind the El Rancho San Benito development we reported on in November, pulled their project application in April — just as we were gearing up for a major fight to stop this global warming inducing disaster. DMB gave as reasons the financial downturn and the state's inability to make highway improvements. However, it was clear they were facing a long and expensive environmental review process. DMB still owns the land, however, and their future intentions are unclear, but for now the land remains agricultural.
