Letters To The Editor
Editor:
Please add my voice to that of Trish Kaspar
(Letters, February Loma Prietan)
in praising the "Meandering" column by John Maybury. Hats off and a set of kudos
to him for his useful, informed, and eclectically entertaining contribution to the
Loma Prietan.

Editor:
I am writing because I do not see that the local chapter of the Sierra Club has any hikes in or a lot of information on the plight of San Bruno Mountain.
One way to popularize the problems surrounding its overdevelopment is to hold Sierra Club hikes there.
I live at the very base of the mountain, am a Loma Prieta Chapter member, and actually had lived in my house for two years before I even knew there were any problems there (other than the unbelievably ugly new housing on Hillside.)
I would be happy to donate my time to any project that would throw the weight of the Sierra Club behind the San Bruno Mountain Watch organization. They seem to be underfunded and manned. Please let me assist in saving the mountain; it is in fact the only reason I bought my house in that area!

Response from the Editor:
Like you, Julie, we at the Loma Prieta Chapter are concerned about the plight of San Bruno Mountain. In the
July/August 2001 issue of the LP, we ran a short article on the $500,000 grant from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service that will help protect San Bruno Mountain. And we encourage all our members to attend the informative guided hikes on the mountain led by San Bruno Mountain Watch (415/467-6631).
