Loma Prieta Election Endorsements

It's election time again and there are some hot local races with many open seats to keep an eye on. The Chapter has endorsed candidates in Daly City, Los Altos Hills, Los Gatos, Menlo Park, Milpitas, Mountain View, Pacifica, San Jose (District 7), Santa Clara, and Saratoga.
Sierra Club California Endorsements
Sierra Club California supports Proposition 46, 50, 51, and Gray Davis for Governor, and opposes Pacifica Measure E and Santa Clara County Measure B.

On Tuesday, September 17, the Menlo Park City Council, under the leadership of outgoing Mayor Steve Schmidt, passed a resolution favoring alternatives to SFO Airport's proposed runway expansion out into San Francisco Bay.
Southern San Mateo County Members to Affiliate with BMG
In order to better support members from San Mateo County, the Loma Prieta Chapter has transferred responsibility for portions of the former San Mateo Group to the Black Mountain Group.
Fighting Sprawl & Supporting Infill: Hyatt Rickey's Endorsement

To help ease housing pressure in the Bay Area, the Chapter endorses the redevelopment of the 16-acre Hyatt Rickey's Hotel on El Camino Real in south Palo Alto. The existing 1950s 300-unit hotel property has been proposed to be redeveloped into a 300-unit hotel and 300-unit apartment project.
Sprawl: San Benito County Style
