Nominations Committee Seeks Candidates
Loma Prieta Chapter, Group ExCom members on November ballot
Suggestions are now being accepted for nominees for elective positions
on the executive committees of the Loma Prieta Chapter and its regional groups.
The Chapter has over 22,000 members in San Mateo, Santa Clara and San Benito
counties and it is overseen by volunteer members of chapter and regional group
executive committees.
The Chapter ExCom oversees an annual budget of nearly
$250,000, two full-time and one part-time staff, hundreds of volunteers and
this newsletter.
ExCom members organize and take an active part in fundraising.
Every ExCom member is expected to be actively involved in some aspect of the
Chapter's operations, putting in substantial time between meetings.
Group ExComs
are responsible for organizing regular meetings and activities for hundreds
of members. ExCom members at both levels must attend regular meetings, help
decide responses to conservation issues and take an active part in making the
Chapter or group function.
If you want to serve on the Chapter Executive Committee
or know someone who would make a good ExCom member, please contact the chair
of the nominations committee, Bill Michel at (650) 965-8456.
Suggestions
are due August 15. Members not nominated by committee can run by petition. Petition
forms and instructions are available at the Chapter Office at (650) 390-8411.
Fifteen signatures of chapter members for Chapter positions and 10 for groups
are needed by the Friday, October 1 deadline.
To serve on a group ExCom, contact
your Group Chair or Secretary (listed in the directory on page 4). To determine
your group affiliation, check your mailing label on this newsletter. The second
(four digit) number on the second line is your regional group code: "0201" denotes
San Mateo group; "0203" San Carlos-Belmont; "0204" Black Mountain; "0205" Guadalupe.
If your code is "0200," you aren't affiliated with a specific group.
Deadline
for all nominations, whether by committee or by petition, is October 1. Ballots
will be distributed to all Chapter members in the November Loma Prietan. Ballots
will be counted at the Chapter Office within seven days of the close of elections.
Results will be certified at the meeting of the Chapter Executive Committee
in December and printed in the January Loma Prietan.
