With the contest over, you may still play the quiz for fun. Quiz #1 originally had open questions, but it has been converted into a multiple-choice, auto-scoring form. If you prefer, you can simply view the answers.
This surprised me, as I was expecting some folks to come close to getting all the questions. I had even included one question that I thought impossible to answer (#25) in order to thwart the 100% scores I anticipated. Clearly, I grossly overestimated the breadth of knowledge and level of motivation of those who looked at the quiz! The scoring method was straightforward, if a bit brutal: Each correct answer was worth one point, an unanswered question was worth zero, and an incorrect answer cost you a full point. This last part seemed to escape some of the participants as errors numbered quite high in a few cases. Because of the poor turnout and difficulty of the quiz, one could have been in the money with a relatively low score. R.J. Secor was the clear and uncontested winner, kicking everybody else's ass with a score of 15. Second and third places were each won with a score of only 3 points, with second place going to the earlier entry. Here are the results (out of a total of 25 questions):
