Chapter Office Library, 6pm (see chapter Directory for location)
This will be a working, dinner meeting (to be delivered by 6pm).

A. Voting procedures:
i. Currently it has been decided that voting privileges are bestowed to members who have attended 3 meetings within a 12-month period.
ii. Action: Do we waive that restriction for assigned representatives from the three regional groups? (Note, this would be similar to the conservation committee where the groups have permanent status as voting members.)
iii. Other recommendations to increase participation of Regional Groups (RG): Black Mtn, Guadalupe, and San Carlos/Belmont in land use issues/developments?
1. RG reports from Bonnie, Ginny, Kerch, be they in writing or in-person, updating SLU on what they have been doing?
2. New member meetings held by RG?
B. Use of non-linked SLU 'no frills website': http://lomaprieta.sierraclub.org/slu/
i. Shall we post approved minutes here as a matter of record?
ii. Paul Hsieh, chapter's volunteer webmaster, has offered to:
1. Embellish the website by allowing additions, e.g.
a. Mission Statement
b. Contacts
c. Linking to chapter website.
2. He awaits our instructions….
A. "Loud opposition to Mayfield project, Mtn View"
This is a 'greyfield ' (shopping mall turned office park, now vacant)
Cancellation
of Guest Speaker: Kevin
Gardiner, AICP
Van Meter Williams
Pollack, San Francisco
Note: Mr. Gardiner attended the Victor Dover Forum (#8 Agenda)
"Van Meter Williams Pollack, an architectural and urban design firm has been retained by the City of Mountain View to assist in developing the development standards for the Mayfield site, and also the background analysis including development of EIR alternatives. Should the project ultimately get approved, Toll Bros. would develop the actual project. Toll Bros. has retained Solomon ETC for the master planning, and the site plan alternatives developed to date have been produced by Solomon."
News article follows:
"Hewlett-Packard is seeking to sell the 27-acre site where it had offices until 1986 to Toll Brothers, a developer that wants to replace the offices with 600 to 800 residential housing units. But residents of the surrounding Monta Loma neighborhood have said the large-scale project will drive down the value of their one-story single-family homes, create traffic problems and increase crime."Full story:http://www.mv-voice.com/morgue/2004/2004_09_24.mayfield.shtmlB. Possible Position:
The current proposal is for 25 homes to the acre, yet surrounding neighborhood wants it reduced.i. What should be our position?
ii. Who will be the advocate/monitor?
6. Implementing recent policies:
A. Cupertino Growth Initiatives:
i. The signatures were delivered 9/30…special election likely in January.
ii. Concerned Citizens of Cupertino (CCC) has launched an impressive, all-grassroots campaign to educate and advocate on behalf of the initiatives.
iii. Future Actions by Club? (Rod Brown)
B. Measure Q is 'hot' in RWC
Update on current actions….any additional? (Irvin)
7. Conservation Committee Sept agenda item:
Sargent Ranch DevelopmentHow this relates to infill development/Rod Brown
This would be a good opportunity to help conscom, excom, and the groups understand why SLU advocates the policies it does for denser, infill development. A useful comparison would be the impact of development on Sargent Hills vs. BAREC or Mayfield.
Discussion?
