California High Speed Rail

This is a project to connect San Francisco/San Jose with Sacramento, Los Angeles, and San Diego with 220mph trains. This has the potential to reshape the way Californians move about the state in profoundly positive environmental manner. Unfortunately, powerful special interests are trying to force the Authority to not study the Altamont (I-580) corridor as a way to get from the Bay Area to the Central Valley. Instead they are trying to force an expensive route with many miles of difficult and expensive tunneling that goes through sparsely populated areas.

BART to San Jose

VTA is an agency that is deeply troubled by a Board that is only part-time and is composed of individuals who are not directly elect. This means that often times transportation is not their primary interest. This neglect is not benign. It has real costs. Extending BART to San Jose is another example of a politically-driven decision rather than a responsible transit decision. Read more at VTAWatch

Caltrain Electrification

Electrification of Caltrain would modernize Caltrain and allow for the increased service frequency and acceleration. Electrification would also help advance help make High-Speed Rail possible.

San Francisco Downtown Extension (DTX)

The DTX project extends the Caltrain line underground from its current San Francisco station at 4th and King to a more centrally located station underneath a rebuilt Transbay Terminal.
